How we get the information and why we do we have it


Most personal information we have will be collected directly from you, this may be obtained, face to face, over the phone, through the website forms or via email.


Information is obtained in order to register you as a client of the practice in order to provide medical care for your pet, contact you as required with updates on your pet or reminders of treatments due or upcoming appointments, or deal with any queries or updates relating to your account with us.


We use your payment card details to process payments you make in the practice or over the phone and share these details with our payment services provider, Worldpay. We do not store any financial details.


Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the lawful bases we rely on for processing this information are:

What we do with the information


We use your information to provide veterinary care, keep in contact with you, respond to queries or complaints, request the full medical history of your pets from your previous veterinary care provider, when we are requested to do so, make referrals to third party companies such as referrals to specialists or other veterinary care providers, laboratories, pet cremation services, pet insurance providers, microchip registers, however we will not do so without your consent. We may contact you regarding new products, offers or promotions from time to time, but only where you have explicitly opted into this service.

How we store your information

Your information is securely stored at MacLellan Vets Eastgate Practice.

We keep client and pet records for a minimum of 5 years after we have ceased treating the pet due to the pet becoming deceased or the pet’s healthcare being transferred elsewhere. We will only retain your personal data for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes we collected it for, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, accounting, or reporting requirements. We will then dispose your information by shredding or permanent deletion of digital records such as emails.
