Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon

About Us

We are looking to add a small animal veterinary surgeon to our small and friendly team. We are proud to be one of the few remaining independent practices in the Inverness area, established in 1924. Owner and principal vet, Angus MacLellan-Stephenson has been connected with the practice for over 10 years and took on the practice when Mr Jolley retired in March 2022 after 45 years’ service to the pets of Inverness.

Over the last 12 months we have invested in numerous improvements and new equipment including digital x-ray, ultrasound scanner, in-house labs, new dental equipment and much more to come. Planning has been submitted to allow us to get to work on ambitious new improvements to the premises, so this is an exciting time to join the team and help shape the future of the practice. The work here at MacLellan Vets Eastgate is always interesting. Open consultations in the morning provide a fast paced and varied caseload, you will have the opportunity to work up your cases in the afternoon, along with scheduled surgeries and emergencies.

Who are we looking for?

Whether you are about to graduate or have a wealth of experience and are looking for a change of work culture or scenery we would be delighted to speak to you. We are looking for a vet who is excited to work for an independent practice. As you can see from our reviews, we pride ourselves on providing a great service, whilst being open, honest and fairly priced. All of our decision making is patient focused and free of external influences, we have full autonomy over how we work up our cases and which medications and suppliers we use. We do not measure performance with sales targets or other rigid formulae, we are a family business, and our primary focus is to maintain our great reputation. One of the things our clients love about us is that we do not consider our consultations to be a sales opportunity. We are not part of any monthly direct debit schemes and currently prefer to offer treatment tailored to individual clients’ needs.

For new graduates, this is a unique opportunity to receive 1:1 mentorship as needed, from a supportive and experienced vet, allowing you to build your skills and gain the confidence to thrive. For an experienced vet, this is an opportunity to work in a positive and friendly practice, assisted by a team of experienced and helpful nursing staff, influence the future of the practice and with the potential to further your career in a supportive and open-minded environment.

Salary will be dependent on experience.

Out of hours commitment will be a 1:4 rota on a very quiet OOH service.

Funding for CPD and professional fees provided.

If you would like to discuss this role in more detail, Angus would be delighted to have an informal chat with you on 01463230893 during the day or 07726431317 on an evening or weekend.
